About us

What we do

The General Council is the highest executive board of the foundation; in regards to policy and consitutional matters.

We support the Director General and ensure the effective running of the foundation. We are also the corporate headquarters for the foundation, in partnership with the Monetary Office, and we take the lead in certain critical policy areas.

Our responsibilities

We're responsible for:

  • ensuring effective development, coordination and implementation of policy
  • coordinating the foundation’s response to crises
  • recommend amendments to policies
  • scrutinising orders of the Director General’s Office, review and amend where required
  • managing risk, ensuring the longevity of the foundation
  • advise the Director General’s office on policy and requests from the Department of Works and Department of Research and Reform

Our priorities

Our priorities are:

  • support the Director General’s office to deliver the foundation’s programme
  • veto any order, demand or request deemed damaging by the governors to the foundation’s longevity
